What separates day from night? It could be the same “matter” that separates the body from the mind. For artist Shawki Youssef “Matter is a physical substance, which is allegedly distinct from the mind, the spirit, and energy”. Youssef caught in paintings his obsessions with the human bodies, laying down his brush on canvas, striking it as vivid as the flesh caught in emotions.
