Hannibal Srouji recently exhibited “Sky is the Limit” at the Al Markhiya Gallery in Doha, Qatar from March 19th till May 17th. The space was dominated with the vast bright canvases with blotches of dark colors.
Srouji compares his big paintings to a dream or life as we tend to want peace, purity and serenity however we are always faced with something that will disturb the smooth flow.
Many of his paintings have neon lighting superposition, a technique that his grandparents crafted, and most of the neons he used on his work from old workshops. And the dark color applications symbolize bullet-holes through which the Lebanese reality can be reflected.
