In February 2019, the Dean of the school (Elie Haddad), the Chair of the Department of Art and Design (Randa Abdel Baki) and the head of the Fashion Design program (Jason Steel) went to a 3 day visit to see the LCF facilities across London, their incredible equipment and technology and how they are being used.
In what can be described as a fun, interactive and quirky talk, Karen Heard, a London College of Fashion Academic, shared with the room how an idea grows from a thought or interaction into a full fledged multi-facetted project.
The talk has been the culmination of two projects proposed by Heard to the first year students and seniors.
On December 10th, the Rima Hourani Exhibition Hall at the Byblos Campus hosted the 99 Posters exhibition. The space was filled with cleverly designed posters putting into practice various design pillars like typography, layout, grid structure, color and composition. Other than showcasing design principles, these posters paid tribute to Lebanese women that left their trace on society.
On December 6 at Sheikh Zayed Exhibition Hall, LAU’s Institute for Women’s Studies in the Arab World in partnership with ESCWA hosted “Fighting Gender-Based Discrimination with Arts”. The roundtable was a powerful and emotional one that featured actress Natasha Choufani, LAU ’s Coordinator of the Fashion Design Program Jason Steel, and artists and activists Michelle and Noel Keserwany.
