Fashion Design
On December 6 at Sheikh Zayed Exhibition Hall, LAU’s Institute for Women’s Studies in the Arab World in partnership with ESCWA hosted “Fighting Gender-Based Discrimination with Arts”. The roundtable was a powerful and emotional one that featured actress Natasha Choufani, LAU ’s Coordinator of the Fashion Design Program Jason Steel, and artists and activists Michelle and Noel Keserwany.
This past June Genny Haddad graduated from the Fashion Design program with her final collection that won her the best concept award from a renowned panel of jury. Her graduation project, was based on a through research on mental institution. She visited and talked with the patients and collected some of their illustrations.
Our own fashion design student, Nour Daher, was awarded with the Special Stone award by the Italian design company: Origin, Passion, and Beliefs. The competition was about fashion entrepreneurship where Nour admitted her portfolio along 4000 applicants, 28 were elected and 7 prizes were given.
Fashion Design student Karen Abou Alwan was chosen to attend the Elie Saab fashion show backstage in Paris. The experience gave her an insight on the organization and professionalism needed to make the show happen.
Congratulations to the Fashion Design program and Christie Dawli for winning the printing Ultimaker competition, and a new 3D printer as a winning prize. Raidy launched this massive competition and many schools were participating.
