We are all still not over “Safar”, our illustration instructor Salim Azzam’s latest fashion collection. A small yet powerful fashion project which ignites love from the first sight has taken this storyteller to a new level of success.
“Safar”, was launched during the Paris Fashion Week in Liza, a Lebanese restaurant in Paris. Many French actors and designers as well as Lebanese ones went to attend the launching leaving Salim overwhelmed. The collection consisted of clothing pieces with handmade embroideries of illustrations that remind us of home and instills in us the feeling of nostalgia. His inspiration comes from people living in the village in the mountains where he comes from.
Salim is known for his ability to connect several aspects of design together and combine them into a piece that serves a purpose. Illustrations, community work, storytelling, and fashion design, were the pillars of both his collections “Winter Tales” and “Safar”.
Salim knows for sure that no matter how far his work could take him, his source of inspiration will always be his homeland, Lebanon. He believes that even if someone isn’t Lebanese or couldn’t relate to the stories, they would still wear a piece that has a beautiful story behind it.
As for his future projects, Salim is currently working on a new collection and new stories to share with the world.
